My story, of over 40 years in entertainment.

I am a character performer having worked in the entertainment industry for over 40 years, on stage, as a singer and as a Voiceover artist. I've also worked extensively in TV as a performer and presenter mainly in historical character roles. As an historian I have been at the forefront of the development of "Historical Interpretation" performance. I also work as a Master of Ceremonies, and am a Beadle in the City of London, and a ceremonial Church Verger.

I have held an Equity card since 1988 (number 120613).

Acting, Musicals and Opera

My stage work has encompassed many acting roles in numerous venues. As trained singer I've worked in Opera, Musicals and recitals. I've also worked in Variety, including professional Panto, Music Hall MC, a Magic Lantern showman, and even as a Circus Ringmaster.

Historical Interpreting

I am also an historian, which has led me to develop a style of performance called "Historical Interpretation". This serious re-creation of historical persons and situations, through meticulous research and improvisation has resulted in my working at many of the most important heritage venues, festivals and events in the country, together with the team of actors I formed and directed. I have also brought my skills as an historical character actor to Film and TV. I have been artistic director and writer of major history festivals and award-winning education projects featuring Historical Interpretation.

TV, Film and Voiceover

A considerable amount of my performing work has been on Film and TV, for the BBC and numerous independent film companies. Many of these performances have been in my specialism in historical character portrayals, but also as a character presenter. I have also worked on several voiceover projects and audio dramas with the likes of 'Big Finish Productions'. My voice has also been heard on Computer Games, promotional videos and adverts.

Historian, Beadle, Writer, Churchman

As an historian I have brought much of my love of history into my acting career, but I have also used these talents in my writing. This writing has included scripting historically based events for a wealth of clients and venues. I have also acted as historical advisor on shows and TV productions, hiring some of my collection of authentic props and costumes. My work as a Toastmaster and Historical Master of Ceremonies is also echoed in my work as a Beadle for Ward, Company and Parish in the City of London, as well as being Verger of a grade one listed City Church that I help to take care of.
